Majakaneng: Glenkirk – Doxa Deo
We are doing the second phase of the new preschool/community-center/church at the Majakaneng community in South Africa. Our project will be the first CoD project that also includes a small sewing center. Mothers of the preschoolers, among other women from the community, will create income for their families as well as an ongoing income stream for the general school budget. A lack of school uniforms, that will be made at the new facility, are often a major contributor for kids not attending elementary school. A variety of leadership and community development programs will be led by pastor Debson’s wife who is a qualified social worker.

We believe that, when we had to select our annual outreach project, God steered us to pick this granddaddy of faith project from among all the options available. With separate confirmation from both organizations, we’re confident that God will make His project a reality as we faithfully take one step after another through the uncertainties. Both of our containers are completed and ready for shipment (December 2011). Our recipient community is ex-bondservants who were released by the former king of Nepal in 2000. We are honored to be a part of this community that is still treated and seen as the lowest on the cast system.

When I heard the lyrics "greater things are still to be done" it connected deep within my soul and I knew this would be true for this project .. just did not know what that would look like. Well, now we partially do! Oasis send the first container and a second group "Glenkrik Church" (Majkaneng project) heard about the project a year later and decided to adopt a second phase. A new project in development with a target starting date in the spring of 2012. There are 265 different people groups in Mexico and 154 of these groups are consider unreached and unengaged. The intended building will sever as a church facility in addition to a combination of a preschool, community center and vocational training facility.
